Victorian dairy communities are at their best when people have the resources, connections and confidence to back local ideas. August brings a good spread of opportunities across all three dairy regions, with several council rounds now open and a strong showing from state and national programs.

Two things to flag this edition. First, the Glenelg Shire Council grants close 9 August, which is three days away, so if you are in that region act now. Second, the AgriFutures Rural Women's Award 2027 opens in September, which is less than a month away. If you know a woman in Victorian dairy doing exceptional work, now is the time to start thinking about encouraging her to apply and offering support with a nomination.

The Victorian Landcare Grants are a strong fit for dairy farming communities with on-ground environmental work — Landcare groups, Friends groups and Committees of Management are all eligible. The bushfire reinstatement grants (up to $75,000) remain open until October and are still underused by those affected in January.
