For Daniel and Michaela Meade of Garvoc, leadership is about showing up for their community. Both completed the Leadership Great South Coast program supported by the Gardiner Foundation, which helped them build skills, confidence and clarity about how they could contribute.
Daniel completed the program in 2016 and went on to serve on Moyne Shire Council, including terms as Mayor and now Deputy Mayor, while continuing his involvement in WestVic Dairy, the VFF, the CFA and local community groups.
Michaela completed the program in 2022 and used it to rediscover her own direction after raising a young family. She has since launched MJM Active, a fitness business focused on helping farmers stay fit for life.
Both credit Gardiner with supporting rural leadership and strengthening the capacity of people across Victoria’s dairy regions.
